New Things Ahead . . .

Hello everyone!

thanks for all of the support as we go through these changes. we have been working on some new stuff over the past few weeks. Tonight we officially finished the first song as our new band. Right now we still are undecided on a name for the band. We do have some ideas but we will not disclose that information to the public until we have officially decided on a name. But know there is being thought put into it. We don't wanna just make something up that doesn't mean something to us. We want our band name to have meaning. So that's why it's taking us a little while to come up with one. But in the meanwhile, we are getting stuff done, so be excited about that. Hopefully we'll have another song done in the next couple of weeks.

Remember, we still have all of our songs up on our purevolume website up for download, so you can go get those for free if you haven't already done so. Also, if you get the chance, go check out our friend's band The Sailor Sequence. www.myspace.com/thesailorsequence . . . good stuff there. hopefully we can play shows with them when they are ready and when we are ready. that would be rad. i think that's all for this update. have a great week everyone!

Weatherby: (September 2003-July 2006)

Hello to all of our friends, family, and fans,

We just want to let everyone know that Weatherby is now done as Weatherby. I know some of you may be confused and let me tell you that's ok. This all just happened pretty quick. Let me also say that we as musicians and song writers are not done as a band. We will just not be continuing as Weatherby. Here it comes, get ready for a long one. Weatherby: the story.

Let's start from the beginning. Matt and Nate met and found out that they enjoyed similar styles of music and wanted to jam together sometime. So they went to Weatherby Chapel on Mid-America's campus (hence the name Weatherby) and had their first jam session. Thus starting Weatherby. Soon they would look for someone to play bass. They ran into me and found out our musical tastes were also similar and i told them i could play bass, although i'd never played in a band or anything. So i brought my crappy bass and amp to one of their jam sessions. All was fine and dandy and then they decided that they wanted to look for another guitar player.... they knew of a guy who liked similar music named Josh and he said he could play guitar but was more comfortable playing bass but he would play guitar if needed. I told the guys i was more comfortable just singing if Josh wanted to play bass. There was another guy named Dallas who lived next door to me that told me he could scream. He couldn't do anything else but he could scream. So i told him he could come to a practice and we could see if we could incorperate that into the music at all. There was another guitar player named Seth and he came to a few of the jam sessions. Well, we decided that at the time we would just use one guitar player and we decided that we'd give some screaming a try in our music. Even though our style wasn't really "screaming" oriented, we used it anyway. So we started out as this pop punk band with a screamer. looking back, it is pretty funny. So we were having fun, started playing some shows, things were good.

After about 6 months, our music started progressing into a harder, post hardcore style of music. More screamo like. A style we were all starting to feel more comfortable with. We recorded a 2 song ep with our friend Austin Corder at Blacklodge Studios. Fun times were had. After that, we took a break that summer cuz not everyone was going to be in olathe. When we came back from summer, we decided we should try to add a 2nd guitar player to inhance our music. We got my friend Hunter who goes to my church. He added some good stuff to our band. We continued playing music throughout that school year. We realized toward the end of that year that Dallas was getting invovled in other things and didn't have the same goals as the rest of the band. We decided after that next summer to part ways with Dallas as he had other things going on and the band was going forward and couldn't wait to move ahead. We started writing some new songs, our best stuff yet in our opinion.

Then came the news, Josh is in the army reserves and they called him into active duty. He would be leaving in August and not coming back for over a year! what would we do? We got a friend of me and hunter, Caleb johansen, to help us out and be our fill-in bass player. He picked everything up quick. We started playing more shows. We were playing some good shows with some bigger bands. We were all enjoying it a lot. Caleb then had some other things going on where he couldn't be a part of the band anymore. So we found a bass player that went to school with us, Nathan Badley and asked if he would join us. He told us he would and so we started again with another bass player. He was also a quick learner and started up right away with us. We started writing more songs.

Over Christmas break we recorded a few of our new songs. We had fun, learned some lessons, moved on with the band. After break, it was harder and harder to have Hunter at practice as he was attending Kansas State University. Gas prices went up, he couldn't come back every weekend. It was just really hard to write new songs and progress without him there at practice. So we had to part ways with Hunter. This left us without a 2nd guitar player. So we had some decisions to make. We asked Badley if he would be interested in staying in the band for the long haul (as he was just filling in for Josh until he got back). He told us he was very interested. So we talked to Josh and asked him if he would be interested in playing 2nd guitar for us when he got back from Iraq. He was willing and so we continued on as Weatherby with one guitar player again and that is where we have been since.

We've been writing some new songs and playing shows whenever we could. We had an amazing opportunity to go to Cornerstone music festival. However, with the cost of gas and the price of tickets, we weren't sure if we were gonna be able to make it. Josh, being the amazing person he is, sent us some money to help us get to cornerstone and back with gas money. Although he couldn't be with us, he was the one that made the cornerstone trip possible for us. God really tested us and our ability to trust Him, but He worked everything out for us. We made it to Cornerstone, we played our first show there and then we all talked. We all had this same idea, like God had all been talking to us individually about the direction of the band. We all felt like we could do some amazing things as a band. We all felt like we could stretch ourselves as muscians and song writers and we felt like God could use us in amazing ways, but we felt like we were trapped in a sense. We felt like we were trying to write music toward a certain crowd. We felt like we didn't want to have to "please a certain scene". We felt like we should just write whatever is on our hearts, whatever God puts inside of us. So we talked about it as a band and we thought that it would be a good idea to follow the ideas in which God was leading us. We felt like since we would be changing the way we worked as a band, and plus the fact that we have gone through so much as "weatherby" as far as member changes and just the fact that we've changed over the past 3 years, we decided it would be a good idea to change our band name. SO . . . we are NOT BREAKING UP! We are just taking a break from playing shows right now to write new music. We won't be playing our Weatherby songs anymore. I'm sorry to all of you who loved our old stuff and who maybe never even got a chance to see us play it live. But there will be good things in the future for us. Once we come up with our new band name, we will let you all know. We'll be getting a website up, probably starting a new xanga for all of you who read this. And you can check out myspace for updates as well: www.myspace.com/weatherby . . . and we'll be informing you of how things are coming with our new project. We will all be the same members. It is myself (Mark) on vocals, Nate on guitar, Badley on bass, Matt on drums, and Josh on 2nd guitar when he returns from Iraq. Same band, different direction, one goal: to make music that we love that is pleasing to God. If others like it then that is a bonus. Hopefully you will like it. I'm not trying to say we don't want you to like it. Because we do. But our goal, first and foremost is to make a joyful noise to the Lord.

Thank you all for reading this rediculously long entry. I just listened to the entire As Cities Burn cd while typing this out. We just want to say thank you to everyone who has ever listened to our music as Weatherby, come to a show, visited our xanga, said hello, any band we've played with. Weatherby was a really good learning experience of us as a band and now we are ready to take it to the next level. I hope you are ready to go there with us.

-Mark for Josh, Nate, Matt, and Badley
